NTT Accepting New Applications
The G.R.E.A.T. National Training Team (NTT) is currently accepting applications
for new Team Leaders. Candidates must be nominated by a Regional Administrator,
a current NTT member, or the command staff of the nominee’s agency. Nominations
can be e-mailed to information@great-online.org,
marked for the attention of Ron Doyle, G.R.E.A.T. Program National Coordinator,
or faxed to Mr. Doyle at (850) 386-5356. An invitation to apply and an application
form will be mailed to all qualified nominees.
The NTT is the cadre of instructors for G.R.E.A.T. Officer Training and other G.R.E.A.T.-related
training events held at the regional and national levels. Certification to the NTT
is a prestigious achievement for a G.R.E.A.T. officer and his or her agency. NTT
members agree to devote two or more weeks each year to the national training effort.
All expenses are covered by the G.R.E.A.T. National Program Office, and remuneration
for NTT service is provided to Team Leaders and/or their agencies.
Successful candidates for the NTT must possess and demonstrate a broad range of
skills and qualities, including strong communication and interpersonal skills, time-management
skills, personal initiative, flexibility, exemplary role-modeling in both formal
and informal situations, and firm commitment to faithful replication of the G.R.E.A.T.
Program. For more information, see the
G.R.E.A.T. Training Procedures, specifically TP107 for information on selection
and approval of Team Leader candidates and TP106 for minimum service requirements
for NTT staff.
G.R.E.A.T. Team Leader Training (GTLT), a prerequisite for NTT certification, has
been rescheduled for early 2009. GTLT is held infrequently, only when there is a
need to add new NTT members due to attrition. This year’s GTLT will be the first
since 2005. The deadline for applications has been extended to October 31, 2008.
